Tools on our secure server
Checking…Office files, PDF/A, passwords and other heavy jobs. Your file is uploaded, processed, then deleted.
AI tools
Checking…Summarize, translate, chat with a PDF, and pull out data. These run on our secure server too.
pdf.xyz is browser-first: whenever a tool can run on your device, it does, and nothing is uploaded. A secure worker is only ever used for work the browser genuinely can't do — and only after it's clearly labeled.
What runs where
Runs entirely on your device, in your browser. Files are never uploaded.
The main work runs in your browser, and on that path the file stays on your device. An optional, clearly labeled step uploads the file to a secure server — only when you start it, and only after the page confirms a server is available.
Runs on a secure server, which deletes your upload when the job ends and serves the result for a limited time.
Sends your PDF's selectable text — not the file — to a third-party AI provider to answer your request, under terms that prohibit training on it.
Secure-worker and AI tools upload your file to a secure worker, as does Compress's optional worker step, and each tells you so before you run it — pdf.xyz never fakes processing in the browser. The privacy policy sets out how uploads, malware scanning and deletion work.
